The credit for launching Robotics projects at KIET should go to our first batch of students, who way back in 2001, were sent to witness Shastra a technical event organized by IIT Chennai by our dynamic, young and ever responsive Secretary & correspondent Mr.P.V.Viswam. This small group of students who were drawn from all the 4 branches are 1] Y.Rama Krishna from IT. 2] B.Venkanna from EEE. 3] Ram Mohan from CSE. 4] Vamsi and Raj Shaker Ram from ECE.
The ever-watchful management members of our college identified this group early to have potential to make it big. They were found to show keen interest in learning new things, which helped them to get selected for paper presentations at various institutes of repute of which, one is IIT Chennai. The organizers of Sashtra of IIT Chennai selected our paper on Cryptography for presentation in their campus. Inspired by the events at Chennai they started projects in Robotics, Rocketry and event management which taught them technical skills along with logic thinking, personality development and thinking creatively.
The series of pictures below will take you through our journey in learning, starting, producing and participating in Robotic events all over India .
KIET CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR ROBOTICS
KIET center of Excellence for Robotics has been established to promote interdisciplinary research, application of technology to address issues like power shortage, digital divide, other innovative application for the rural and urban centers in INDIA through Robotics. Through this center we have trying to change the education system in India, which has been focusing only on creating human resources for service sector rather than creators, inventors and innovators.
Focus Areas:
Taking Robotics as end application we have been trying to focus and promote core areas.
· Embedded system Design
· VLSI Design
· MEMS & Nanotechnology
This is an innovative lab which consists of 126 different types of electronics and mechanical components and tools to design ROBOTS, Embedded systems etc. Each student of our programs is provided with such setup at very low cost to encourage students into hardcore domains. the students can take their mini laboratory to their homes to continue with their work and research.
Social Initiatives:
To take technology to the grass root level has been our main motto. In this process we have been able to address few issues
1. Providing cost effective power system for villages
2. Provide cost effective lighting system for remote areas
3. Provide Cost effective broadcast/communication system
for remote areas
