If All the World's a Stage, then where're the audience? To answer this very pertinent question, KIET gives you the stage, the lights, the sounds and the audience and for you to display your thespian skills. All other minor matters in life take backstage as teams and individuals compete to upstage the other. More puns involving the words 'onstage', 'spotlight', 'limelight' and 'drama' will be made as and when we can come up with them, do keep checking the website for updates. But you get the basic idea. All of you, who have ever told the whole 'I had a headache' story to your teacher in Class Two, have already acted once. There really is no reason why you can't do the same thing ten years on. There isn't even a teacher around now!

Time limit

The time of 15 hour will be counted from 'empty stage to empty stage'

Props

Basic props will be provided on prior notice, i.e. chairs and tables.

Sticking on the backdrop will NOT be allowed.

Use of fire/water/smoke machines on stage (or anywhere in its vicinity) is strictly prohibited.

No extra lights will be allowed.

The Play

The play should primarily be in any Language.

Cross-Branch teams will NOT be allowed.

Allotments of performance slots will be at the discretion of the coordinators.

Monoacting and Mimciry: So you don't like people, you'd like all of the stage to yourself and you can still hold the attention of three hundred people. Go ahead, we have absolutely no problems.

The world seems much bigger, when you are standing all alone. Watch, as a single individual takes over the entire stage, leaving you exhausted and yearning for more. KIET FEST Mono Acting provides these individuals with a stage to compete against their counterparts from colleges all over the country.

Time

4 + 1 minute will be given per person.

After 4 minutes, a buzzer/bell will be rung.

Exceeding time limit will have serious repercussions.

Participation

Only 3 individuals per Branch will be allowed.

Extra points will be given for props or costume.

Radio Play: From behind a screen, only your voices are heard. How much of an impact can you still have? A throwback to the good old days of the radio, Radio Play is quite a unique event but still one in which everyone can participate.

Behind closed curtains anything goes. no "body language", no "using the stage", just you, your voice and the little green goblin. a tribute to the "golden age" of no T.V., when radios ruled the world and video had not killed the radio star.

Time limit : 15 minutes

Rules

No pre-recorded music will be allowed.

Only the use of acoustic instruments and percussion instruments will be allowed. Yes! That means, NO SYNTHESIZERS, keyboards, etc!

A maximum of 4 members per team.

The teams will be made to perform behind a dark screen.
