'Footloose and Fancy-free' was an expression termed precisely keeping the KIET FEST Dance Events in mind. The mega-event in this category is easily the Cultural Nite, performed at the Open Air Theater amid intense competition. But the dancing does not end there. With the success of the Solo Dance introduced an year before, and a revamped Classical dance which will cater to the purists as well as the populists, the Dance bandwagon at KIET has just grown bigger.

Cultural Nite - 3 colleges, over 30 performers, 3000 -strong audience, One Nite. The KIET FEST Cultural Nite is something you just can't miss.

Cultural Nite is undoubtedly one of the most awaited events in KIEF FEST. The number one crowd puller gives different dance groups an excellent platform to showcase their talent. Exciting and energising to the core, this event gives every aspiring dance troupe the chance to perform in front of an 3000-strong audience- easily the biggest audience on the college circuit. Year after year the competition has been increasing and amazing dance performances have become a hallmark. Come and be a part of this larger than life experience.

Rules

The competition is divided into two categories- Theme and Non-Theme. Each category has two winning spots.

Each team is given a time slot of 5+2 minutes which includes time for stage set up.

Points are awarded for theme, choreography, co-ordination, costumes and props in the Theme category. For the Non-theme category points will be awarded for choreography, co-ordination, costumes and props.

Minimum number of participants per team is 6. Maximum number of participants per team is 25. Maximum of 2 back stage helpers.  . .

Fire, water and heavy objects are NOT allowed on stage. No indecency during the performance.

Lighting facility is available. One person from the team is allowed to supervise else it will be up to the lighting group.

Teams are required to confirm their participation at the Help Desk, at OAT, from 9 am - 12 am on 26th December.

Teams are also required to submit the tracks at theHelp desk. A sound check will be done. Please bring the tracks in 2 CD's and a pen drive in all possible formats.

This measure is for your own benefit. We will not otherwise be responsible if the CD's do not work during the time of their performance, hence do come and check up in the morning..

Any team not ready by the specified time will stand disqualified.

No changing rooms will be provided to the teams at the venue. Please come prepared in full costume to the venue.

During the event, teams are requested to take care of your belongings. We will not be responsible for your belongings.

Provision of Video Clipping of individual team performance is being looked into. Information on this will be put up at a later stage.

              *A valid Event ID card is necessary for Stage Performance.

There are dances, and there are other dances. We'd like to see all forms. But only if you're doing it by yourself, alone. The stage is all yours. A relatively new event at KIET that was immensely popular and successful the last time around.This event calls for participants who have the spark in them to be the Numero Uno in Solo Dance

Rules

There are 2 rounds. First round is the prelims where 2+1 minutes are allotted for each performance. Second round is the final round with 4+1 minutes per performance.

A maximum of 30 participants are allowed for the prelims from which 10 will go into the final round..

For the prelims the participants should come prepared with their own piece. For the finals they are required to perform extempore on the tracks provided.

Participants should produce their ID card at the time of registration.

No props are allowed. No indecency on stage.

Judge's decision is final.
